I got tired of lugging a laptop around 7 + pounds. I have a lot of research and settled in this little notebook 3.1 lbs. Compromises were finally reached, but at the cost, portability and battery life, you can not beat this deal. My first Acer 1410 have a problem with fans when fans complained loudly, as though something has been touched - I asked to exchange a new unit is very quiet. Amazon quick and painless trade. I had the computer a couple of weeks here and now are the advantages and disadvantages as I see it:
Pro
-price/weight/battery life (maybe not 6 hours, as advertised, but I can easily get with the heavy use 4.5)
table for word processing / / internet, but can also run ArcGIS, Photoshop, and many other programs without problems (just do not expect every game at high intensity)
reasonably-fast-boot with Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit (even if waiting for Windows 7)
-The keyboard is great for a practice
